Late afternoon, or do a nocturne when dark. Dana Point Harbor Conservation Park, on the bluff overlooking the Dana Point Marina. You may want to stay and paint late afternoon light of the harbor, or stay for a nocturne, or do both. Take the 5 Fwy into the short freeway into Dana Point. Go up the hill on Coast Hwy through town and go L on Green Lantern to the end at the Park above the bluff. Walk down the paths to where you can see the Harbor. Restrooms are down the hill on Cove Road at the Ocean Institute parking lot. Bring a good flashlight to walk back to your car when finished.
